"benevolent virus propagation" for team file sharing

About Us

Leslie Gerhat is a junior at Olin College of Engineering, pursuing a B.S. in Computer Engineering, with an unofficial concentration in computer security and human factors. For this project, Leslie created the local file monitoring system for the Earthworm project. Leslie enjoys  troubleshooting computer problems, watching old detective television shows, and photographing weddings for her family's business.

Eric Hwang is an Electrical and Computer Engineering major in the class of 2010 at the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering. For this project, he designed the network communication protocols, wrote the server framework and request handlers, and gave general programming advice and help. He also somehow ended up serving as the de facto Linux virtual machine administrator for the group. Outside of class, Eric enjoys playing the flute in the Olin Conductorless Orchestra, folding origami, and attending/running various Asian cultural events.

Katarina Miller is a junior at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She worked on comparing files and grabbing the newest ones, and learned a lot about http requests and Python in the process. She is involved in the Society of Women Engineers at both the Regional and Sectional levels, and Olin's Community Service Board. When she isn't working, she enjoys watching Gilmore Girls and catching up with friends.

Raghu Rangan is an Electrical and Computer Engineering major from Wellesley, MA at the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering.  He plans to graduate by 2010.  For this project, Raghu designed the IP-Port Scanner.  While not struggling to code, Raghu enjoys playing viola, soccer, and football.  According to some people, Raghu can be best described funny, nuts, and energetic.

Garrett Rodrigues is currently a junior at Olin College, pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He helped develop the http requests needed to transfer files from one machine to another, as well as the software that compared the hashes from files on the various computers. His work on this project helped him succeed in crashing his computer via continuous system beeps: one of his proudest accomplishments. When he’s not working on improving his software design skills, Garrett enjoys playing sports, listening to music, and most of all, sleeping.

Earthworm was created for ENGR 3410 (Computer Architecture) at Olin College of Engineering in Needham, Massachusetts.

Team Earthworm is: Leslie Gerhat, Eric Hwang, Katarina Miller, Raghu Rangan, and Garrett Rodrigues (Class of 2010).
